Complaints Concerning Listings on Craigslist and Hotpads

NNRMLS has received numerous complaints regarding listings being advertised on Craigslist and hotpads.com. If you are not the Listing Agent you DO NOT have the right to advertise another agent’s listing without the express written consent of the Listing Agent/Broker. Advertising another agent’s listing is against the law!

If you have an IDX Agreement, you have received written consent to advertise another agent/broker’s listing on your website – NOT Craigslist, hotpads.com or similar sites. NNRMLS does search for and verify any listings that are placed on these sites. We will send you a request for written authorization if we find a listing you are advertising that belongs to another agent. If you do advertise another agent’s listing on on any of these sites you will be found in violation of a Level 4 automatic citation of $5,000 and a mandatory invitation to appear in front of the NNRMLS Board of Trustees. You could also be investigated by the Real Estate Division, as advertising a listing that is not yours without written consent is a violation of state law.
